Barbara Casadei was born in the north of Italy. She is a British Heart Foundation (BHF) Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Oxford and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust. Professor Casadei is the Lead of the Myocardial Theme Oxford BHF (British Heart Foundation) Centre of Excellence and the Cardiovascular Theme Oxford NIHR (National Institute for Health Research) Biomedical Research Centre. Moreover, she is the current President of the European Society of Cardiology.
Eric Olson is an American molecular biologist born in Rochester, New York. He is the founding chair of the Department of Molecular Biology at UT Southwestern, Dallas. Dr. Olson is also Director of the Hamon Center for Regenerative Science and Medicine, and the UT Southwestern Wellstone Muscular Dystrophy Cooperative Research Center. In addition, he holds the Annie and Willie Nelson Professorship in Stem Cell Research, the Pogue Distinguished Chair in Research on Cardiac Birth Defects, and the Robert A. Welch Distinguished Chair in Science.
Jeroen Bax was born and raised in Amsterdam. He is a Professor of cardiology, specifically imaging at Leiden University, The Netherlands. He is Director of Non-invasive Imaging and Director of the Echo Laboratory in the Department of Cardiology at Leiden University Medical Centre. Professor Bax was also President of the European Society of Cardiology.
Peter Libby was born and raised in Berkeley, California. He is Mallinckrodt Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and cardiovascular medicine specialist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Furthermore, Dr. Libby is the President-elect of the International Atherosclerosis Society.

Thomas Lüscher was born in Zurich and raised in a doctor’s family. He is the Director of Research, Education and Development, and a Consulting Cardiologist at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital Trust and Imperial College in London, the United Kingdom. He is also the Director of the Center for Molecular Cardiology at the University Zurich. Professor Thomas Lüscher is Editor-in-Chief of the European Heart Journal and former Associate Editor for Circulation, the Journal of the American Heart Association.
Valentin Fuster is a Spanish-American cardiologist born in Barcelona, Spain. He is the General Director of the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares (CNIC) in Madrid. He is also the Director of Mount Sinai Heart and Zena and Michael A. Wiener Cardiovascular Institute. Dr. Valentin Fuster is the Physician-in-Chief of Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC).
